01브레넌의 극적인 우승

Because the Wyndham Championship is the finale of the PGA TOUR's regular season, it doubles as the play-in game for the FedExCup Playoffs. For dozens outside the top-70 bubble for entry, a win at Sedgefield Country Club not only would serve as an official TOUR title, it could mean 11th-hour qualification into the 20th edition of the series.
Michael Brennan arrived in Greensboro, North Carolina, slotted 105th in the FedExCup and in need of no worse than a three-way share of second place just to be in position to have a chance to qualify. He did better than that. In posting 22-under 258, he won the tournament by three strokes.
With 500 FedExCup points for the victory banked, Brennan vaults to 47th in the ranks. He also earns $1,530,000 of the record purse of $8.5 million.

After salvaging a par on the par-4 17th hole on Sunday, Brennan didn't need a birdie to clinch the win, but he went ahead and poured in his attempt from 13 feet, two inches at the par-4 18th for good measure. Not for nothing, it also secured a share of the tournament record. He's the fourth to the number after Henrik Stenson (2017), J.T. Poston (2019) and Cameron Young (2025).
Brennan connected for his second career PGA TOUR victory in just his 27th start as a pro. He won in his debut last October at the Bank of Utah Championship. That came on the bounce of a trio of wins in what were his most recent six starts on PGA TOUR Americas at the time. It didn't exempt him into the Masters but he'd eventually qualify for the first major of the season via his Official World Golf Ranking at the end of the year. With this win at Sedgefield, he's automatically exempt into the Masters next year, as well as THE PLAYERS Championship and the PGA Championship. The 24-year-old was 58th in the OWGR when he registered for the Wyndham, but the win will lift him into the top 40, so he's well-positioned to piggyback that value for entry into the other two majors in 2027.
With Brennan crashing into the top 70 of the FedExCup, Steven Fisk was the odd man out. After missing the cut by five strokes, the recent winner of the ISCO Championship dropped two spots to 71st. He came to rest 8.344 points back of 3M Open champ Jackson Koivun, who placed T29 at the Wyndham.
Beau Hossler's par conversion from seven feet at the last – and after Brennan holed his winning birdie – yielded solo second. After leading outright after the first and second rounds and then sharing the 54-hole lead with Brennan, it's not the result that Hossler was seeking, of course, but it boosted the 31-year-old 50 spots in the FedExCup to 72nd. He finished 31.242 points outside the Playoffs bubble. While he remains winless in 248 PGA TOUR starts as a professional, he's in terrific position to retain a spot inside the top 100 of the FedExCup when that checkpoint for fully exempt status arrives at the conclusion of The RSM Classic this fall. Hossler has played 2026 with conditional status.
In his title defense, Young settled for a six-way tie for 61st place, 18 strokes back of the champ. Brooks Koepka was another stroke back at T67. Koepka concluded the regular season at 94th in the FedExCup, so he has not qualified for the Playoffs in his return to the PGA TOUR. That means that the field for the FedEx St. Jude Championship is capped at 70. As of Sunday night, only Daniel Berger (60th in points) is not committed to the first leg of the series.
